20 life lessons from a 65-year-old

Eat your broccoli.

Don’t bother to stop and smell the supermarket roses.

Don’t be afraid to tell your doctor what you think.

Give your cat anything he wants because he’ll just pester you until he gets it anyway.

Start Kegels and sit-ups when you’re ten and keep doing them until you die.

Marry someone who makes you laugh.

Read, then read more.

When times get tough, dance furiously.

Don’t listen to what people say about you.

Merry-go-rounds are for grownups. Swings, too.

Wear sunscreen even when you’re not at the beach.

Liver tastes gross for a reason.

Be generous.

Sleep as much as you want. Play even more.

Build a fort.

Fort or castle. Blankets or boards. Don't let anyone tell you what it should look like. (This one is from Apartment Therapy.com)

Good people sometimes die young for no good reason.

Some things are more important than having a boyfriend.

Not everyone likes bossy people.

Even mosquitos and spiders are here for a reason.

Make your life plans flexible.

  1. Couple more things….”Go ahead and eat fried food…keeps your skin nice and moist”
“Don’t lose too much weight….body fat irons out the wrinkles..”

    1. Love it. I was never allowed to eat “junk food” when I was young and my little inner voice still tells me it’s wrong. What does it know? I love your comment on weight as well and will use it freely from now on. Thanks!

      1. Me either!! LOL….making up for it now though ::groan::….I just keep telling myself how danged young I look…even though the scale screams at me and tries to get up and run away every morning LOL Somewhere my grandma is going “tsk, tsk…und I raised here so much better den das” (in her best pidgeon English) LOL I’m new to WordPress for blogging…still trying to figure out how to help readers find me…I can’t even find me unless I go directly to my blog for “editing” 😦 I’ll figure it out! In the meantime…I’m enjoying reading!

        1. Love your comment. And, the readers will come. It took me a while, too. A good way to start is by reading and then “liking” other peoples’ blogs. People start reading yours and liking it and you’re on your way. Stick with it. Write regularly and use some good tags. Good luck!

Tell me what you think
