Does civility matter anymore?

I recently read a thoughtful opinion piece called Why Civility Matters by Sara Hacala. I notice others posting questions and comments about the same topic. In recent weeks the incomprehensible shooting of Trayvon Martin and the beating and subsequent death of Shaima Alawad have many of us questioning what is happening here.

Where has human decency gone?

. . . there is greatness in treating others with respect, compassion, kindness and generosity. With this we can make a difference in the lives of many. ~ Sara Hacala

What happened to compassion, kindness and generosity? I’m worried that they’ve fallen along the wayside in our hurry to “get there.”

I'm a writer making my way through life and offering observations as I go. Old enough to know better but that doesn't stop me.
