“The sweetness of doing nothing,” dolce far niente is the Italian way of life. Doesn’t that sound appealing when compared to the insanity of life in the U.S.? This blog is the story of my move to Italy. Pitfalls and peaks. It’s all included, as well as general commentary along the way.
My husband and I, both around 60, are planning the move when he retires in a few years. The key word there for me is “planning.” I was an event planner by trade and am a planner by nature so I’m already obsessing about every little detail, reading, planning, reading, and re-planning!
For this “event” we need to finalize our dual citizenship, decide where and how we’re moving, downsize from a 3-bedroom house and close up our life in the U.S., all the while opening what we hope will be a bright, adventurous retirement (or working retirement, who knows?) in Italy.
This is the story of all that and more. I’m open to tips and tales of travails from others, so please feel free to share and enjoy!
